Hyperactive dogs

 Do we have some hyperactive dogs at home? 

I have a Shih Tzu at home at 3 months old. I always wonder why my puppy always run around, twirl, and bite everything. Every pet owner has this problem and they do not see this as their problem but as the dog. But do we realize that our furbabies aren't really different from human babies? For puppies at 3 months old, it is like a 3-year-old human kid. We may not see it but it is true! Human babies tend to run around, pick up anything, and play all the time. Like our puppies, they eat everything and bite their way out of everything, they run around like hell, they play all the time. Pet owners sometimes can be wrong in how they treat this behavior, we sometimes see these behaviors as cute and bubbly, we think that our puppies are so happy. But no, this hyperactivity is sometimes the cause of the breed of the dog, early puppy years, exercise and training, diet, and structured environment. Some breeds of dogs are inevitably hyperactive like the Border Collie, Golden Retriever, etc. Hyperactive dogs or puppies need the proper exercise like walks and home training. Sometimes their own diet can affect their behavior too! Dogs can be hyperactive by the intake of sugar too! Dog pellets or treats may sometimes include sugar and food color in their ingredients and that may cause hyperactivity and uncontrolled behavior for our dogs. So how do we deal with these problems? how do we calm our dogs down?

Exercise, the best way to deal with hyperactive puppies is to wear them down so they won't have the energy to run around after exercise. You can take them for a 20-minute walk. Wearing them out gives them a channel to focus their anxiety and excess energy. 

Diet, the dog's diet should be the same or aligned with the dog's training and exercise.

Proper encouragement, encouraging them by petting them, and rewarding them when they are hyper can stimulate them and encourage them that being hyper is right. When our dogs are hyper owners should not encourage them and should ignore them and practice saying no to them in a CALM manner. Instead, encourage a calm manner by rewarding them when they are calm. These are the basics of calming down a dog or puppy. 

Always remember that dogs and puppies are like human too, they have emotions and feelings and have their own way of dealing with them!
